The Company is one of the rare enterprises in the heat supply industry that are high-tech firms and have provincial-level post-doctoral innovation bases in Liaoning and municipal-level corporate technology centers. With a continuous technological innovation mechanism, it has developed a number of patented energy utilization and energy management and control technologies that are energy-efficient, low-carbon, and relevant to environmental protection. By the end of 2020, it had been granted 37 patents, nine of which were patents for inventions, 27 were patents for utility models, and one was a software copyright. It has 11 ongoing R&D projects. Meanwhile, establishing strategic partnerships with Harbin Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University, and so forth, it has built a technological R&D center integrating industry, academia, and research. It attaches great importance to the combination of technological research subjects with practical production requirements in a bid to commercialize the research results.

Low-carbon Multi-energy Utilization Technology

The Company owns the new energy utilization technology capable of biomass thermoelectric integrated generation – an industry-leading technology characterized by low carbon, efficiency, and low energy consumption thanks to the use of farming and forestry wastes as fuels. This technology, based on combined fire grates, makes it possible for biomass fuels to be applicable more extensively. Meanwhile, a 6,000r/m high-speed generator set is used, improving the generator set’s efficiency by 5%; the gas consumption and fuel consumption per unit of the generator set is superior to the industry average, thus achieving super-low emissions of exhaust gas. 

This technology features the use of natural gas as the main fuel, where the heat from fuel combustion sets the gas combustion engine in motion and generates electricity. The high-temperature exhaust gas and afterheat from this process of electricity generation are used as the heat source to drive the afterheat-utilizing equipment to carry out cooling/heating; this is a means to provide air-conditioning, cooling, and heating. While the electricity thus generated meets the needs of the equipment in the supply station, the surplus can be fed back onto the grid as complementary energy, thus realizing terminal energy supplies in a multimode of cooling, heating, and electricity and meeting energy needs in different scenarios. This technology results in comprehensive, more reasonable use of cascaded high-quality energy; it maximizes energy efficiency, raising general energy consumption and environmental rating to advanced levels in the industry. 

With thermodynamic centrifugal water-source thermal pump technology as the core, this technology initially heats the circulatory heating water on the primary network by extracting the heat from the water disposed at the sewage treatment plant; then it reheats with the steam exhaust from the steam turbine driving the water-source thermal pump, making the total heat utilization rate of the circulatory heating water system better than 100%. When used jointly with steam afterheat for integrated heat supply, the technology can effectively substitute fossil energy, making it the first heating method ever used in China. It results in obvious coal efficiency, reliable operation, high afterheat utilization rate, and zero emissions and pollution. Thus it is highly viable socially, environmentally, and economically.  

Besides, in fields such as low carbon, energy efficiency, and environmental protection, the Company owns fixed bed boiler phased combustion technology, multi-pipe water surface self-excited wave exhaust gas processing technology, exhaust  gas 1/4 recycling energy efficiency and environmental protection technology, layered burning boiler low-NOx-emission technology, heat exchanger self-cleaning technology, and many other patents. Particularly, exhaust gas 1/4 recycling energy efficiency and environmental protection technology received full recognition in the Scientific and Technological Achievement Appraisal Report by China Renewable Energy Society and Liaoning Province Renewable Energy Society.  


Efficient Smart Operations Technology

The Company is also a domestic leader in terms of heat supply network balancing, heat supply network automatic control, and user terminal management and control. Currently it is already adopting the smart household-specific temperature control and statistics system, smart heat supply management and control integrated system, etc. 
Using IoT, Big Data, and AI technologies, the Luen Mei Smart Operations Platform enables interconnection and mutual sensing between things specifically for the management of the whole “source, network, station, and household” end-to-end process. It brings intelligence to the “brain” (AI) and the “nervous network” (terminals). Thus, it improves system operations management efficiency, supplies energy on demand, and determines production based demand, maximally fulfilling the goal of energy efficiency and consumption reduction.
